(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: kmail Version: KDE 2.9.1 CVS/CVSup/Snapshot Severity: wishlist Installed from: Compiled sources Compiler: Not Specified OS: Not Specified OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified Hello Since decrypting encrypted messages takes some time it would be nice if there was an option to enable caching of the results of the decryption and verification process. Since this implicates keeping the decrypted messages in memory this obviously reduces security. However the only case when this really reduces security is when someone has gained access to your computers memory. In that case he/she/it could simply capture your GPG password when you enter it. Therefore the risk is a rather minor one. Of course this should have to be explicitely enabled. The default should be set to disabled. Moreover there should be an easily accessible button to clear that cache for one and/or for all cached messages. When you really think about it this might even enhance security since less people might use the "Keep passphrase in memory" option since they don't have to enter it every time they click on an encrypted message.
