Description daniel.goertzen 2016-09-22 15:25:18 UTC
It is difficult to launch the Spectacle program if you do not know or remember its name:

- Searching in KDE for "snap" or "screen" does not reveal Spectacle.
- Pressing the "printscreen" button on my keyboard does nothing.
- Googling for the name of Spectacle is tricky and took me a few frustrating minutes.
- I recall the first time I went through all this a few months ago... it was unclear if plasma 5 even had a screenshot program. I stumbled upon Spectacle with a lucky Google.

I'm not that familiar with KDE search; is there some way to add metadata such that Spectacle comes up when the user enters "screen", "snap", or "capture"? Or perhaps there is and my Gentoo installation is just missing it?

Reproducible: Always

"screenshot", or a part thereof, when typed in KRunner or the Application Launcher menu should show "Spectacle". The metadata has been in the .desktop file since the very first release.
