Description fanisatt 2016-09-21 11:22:16 UTC
My OS : (the new) Linux Mint 18 KDE 64bit.
Automatic spell-check is not working in kate application even if the user has chosen to do so (with appropriate setting) . I mean the automatic orthographic control. Specifically , the application does not point out the errors (default red underline). The orhographic control is working in kate only manually .
I use the Greek language.
It is not a general problem because , auto spell-check is working normally in Libreoffice and in web browsers (Firefox – Chrome).
Thanks !

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run kate , fix the setting for automatic orthographic control .
2. Type any word - sentence with orthographic errors.
3.

Actual Results:
Kate does not underline the errors ! It seems to the user that there is no orthographic error but...
if you tell kate to check manually the text then, it can find the error !!

Expected Results:
It had to underline with red line any orthographic error immediately !

Not fixed (at least in Kubuntu 16.10). I still can't use spell checking. If I start Kate from command line i get:

> Hspell: can't open /usr/share/hspell/hebrew.wgz.sizes.

I have both aspell and hunspell installed.

Are you using Kate with HiDPI or a >1 scale factor? If so, this is probably https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=383922
