With my scanner, Skanlite gives me the option of scanning in greyscale or in colour. However, images that are scanned in greyscale are saved with RGB-space colour (at least when PNG is selected as the output format). This needlessly inflates the size of the image by up to three times. When Skanlite saves an image that has been scanned in greyscale, could you please have it save the image in greyscale? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Scan an image in greyscale. 2. Save the image. Actual Results: 3. Even though the image is in shades of grey, it contains separate red, green, and blue channels. Expected Results: 3. The image should be a genuine greyscale image, with only a single channel.
Thanks for the report Tristan. My scanner doesn't have a greyscale option so I can't test this. Can you please test and confirm if this issue is still occurring or if this bug report can be marked as resolved. I've set the bug status to "needsinfo" pending your response, please change back to "reported" or "resolved" when you respond, thanks.

Yes, this problem is still reproducible with Skanlite 2.2.0.0. (Sorry for the delay in responding.)
Actually, there is a chance that this has been fixed with the recent 21.08 release in KDE Gear. When you update to this version in the future, please report back if this issue persists.
Setting to NEEDSINFO again. I'm pretty sure it's fixed with the latest release.
Yes, the problem seems to be fixed in 21.08.
