desiring to see bigger icons on higher dpi screens, one can edit dolphinrc and change default icon sizes there for different view modes (eg to 512px for icons mode), however this doesn't stick for very long so you have to constantly go back there to fix it

the bottom right corner icon size slider is currently limited to 16-256 pixels, desired outcome of this change request is the expansion of its range to 16-512 pixels

This will require a change to the FreeDesktop thumbnail spec. See https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=388660#c1
