Version 5.25.0 on Fedora 24. A couple of things: I'm not a huge fan of the new Search and Replace design, but that's not a bug. I use Find and Replace a lot for editing, and have F8 set up as a shortcut to display the pane. Every so often "something happens" and when you move the cursor over some of the fields, etc., in the Search pane, the cursor disappears completely. The only way to get it back (that I've discovered) is to restart Kate. That also seems to reset the shortcut. It doesn't reset all shortcuts, because I have F7 configured to display the terminal view, and that remains ok (so far). Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: No particular steps to make this happen, just use it and "eventually" it happens. Two or three times a day, sometimes more. I don't think I ever saw this happen in Kate on F22 (I skipped 23). I'm leaving this as default Severity=Normal because I use Kate for my work every day, and repeated restarts is painful.
Hi, sorry to hear you have this issues. Can you reproduce them with more recent versions? I use the search in one file (and search and replace in multiple files) stuff daily and never had this issues.
Hi and thanks for responding. I've just received new h/w and installed F29 and will update this based on what I find. One thing that I didn't mention was that I use Gnome but install (afaik) all the required bits to make Kate work. I don't know if that makes a difference or not.
David, any update?
To be honest I'm in a minor lull and haven't used Kate a lot in the last week or so, but I did some testing just now and it seems to be behaving itself. I notice too that the icons on the various search and replace buttons now appear; they didn't used to when running under Gnome. That's a plus. Perhaps for now close this (it's been open for 3 years) and if it happens again I'll reopen with more details. thanks
Thanks for the update; changing status.
