Description hamelg 2016-09-15 20:08:24 UTC
My video hardware is NVIDIA Corporation G94 [GeForce 9600 GT].
I use the nvidia driver 340xx legacy branch (340.96-15)
Sometimes, when I want to watch a video, mplayer or mythtv fail and complain they can't initialize vdpau driver because out of resource. There is no more video memory. To fix that, i restart my desktop session and all works fine again.
I had this bug for 1 year and I have just find out what is trigger this issue.
A quick workaround is to disable the setting "window preview" in the task manager setting, then the GPU memory stays stable and the issue vanishes.
To illustrate my issue, i've recorded a small video here :

Reproducible: Always
