It happens nearly always and is really annoying: I switch to a folder, immediately click into the quick search bar above the message list and enter a search term. After entering one or two letters, the focus is stolen from the search bar, causing any subsequent key presses to invoke all interesting kinds of hotkey functions - which leads to blooming "reply-to"-windows and stuff... :-/ Needless to say that, after closing all undesired "reply-to" windows and what else, I also have to click into the search bar and position the cursor correctly to finally complete my originally intended search... This only appeared after switching to KDE Neon, ie. the older kMail included in Kubuntu 16.04 did not show this "focus stealing" behaviour. Reproducible: Always
Gunter, thanks for the report. It seems that this exact bug was addressed earlier this month in this commit: https://commits.kde.org/messagelib/698afaa4a3d17f0e7c92932480c3ece6ef23df4d This commit will land in 5.3.2/KDE Applications 16.08.2. If this still happens to you with the upcoming version, please report back here.
Yeah, sounds like a perfect match. :) I hope to be able to test it soon thanks to KDE Neon, the current version is still affected. kmail 4:16.08.1+p16.04+git20160922.0032-0
