In git-unstable branch of Plasma (version 5.7.90 as it shown in Info Center utility) the design of Screen Locker main theme was changed in such way, that there is no button for switching language layout available any more. Layout switching is only possible by hotkey. This is is extremely inconvenient, especially for those who use more then two language layouts, and some of them are excluded from cyclic switching by main hotkey. In this case user could fall into a trap when only killing entire Plasma session from tty could save the situation. Please, bring back the button for switching language into Screen Locker! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Click on desktop with RMB and choose "Lock Screen from the menu" 2. 3. Actual Results: The screen is locked and the button for switching language layout is absent. Expected Results: The screen should be locked and the button for switching language layout should be present near input field or somewhere in convenient place. Current layout should be indicated on it. Such behaviour appears in Neon developers unstable, openSUSE Leap with git-unstable Plasma repositories (used in Argon as well) and under KaOS with kde-next repository.
I cannot reproduce. I get a keyboard switcher in the bottom left corner either showing "de" or "neo".
Oh, you are right!!! I had mistaken. It is really present. But it is almost invisible! It is hidden so carefully that no-one anemy for sure will never find it. :))) Very small black (at least with my desktop theme) letters on completely transparent background on dark wallpaper. It is really hard to find. So, the bug probably can be dismissed, but it is good reason for those who work on this code to think about making this button visible permanently, not only at the moment when the mouse cursor is placed over it.
It is visible pernamentaly. What Plasma theme are you using?
I mean the button itself with its background must be visible permanently, not the letters only. I use Plasma theme Oxygen with desktop theme ThinAir2 modified for use with Plasma 5. But with standard Air and Breeze desktop themes the situation is the same with only difference that letters are white. The white letters are little bit better visible on dark wallpaper, but anyway it is very difficult to note two or three so small letters in the screen corner on the 1920x1080 monitor. And some people use wallpaper with light colors. So, using just a letters instead of completely visible button is a quite bad idea.
And placing button to the screen corner instead of input field vicinity is bad idea as well.
