The labeled task manager has options in the settings menu for sorting and grouping of icons, as well as only showing minimized windows. I'd like to see these added to the icon-only task manager. Icon only: https://i.imgur.com/dMGJQBK.png Labeled: https://i.imgur.com/5BhwsJh.png In a bug report from a couple years ago I read that it's not feasible to merge these widgets into one. Is that still the case? It seems like it should be easier since they provide the same functionality (well, they should). Reproducible: Always
This is by design choice. The Icons-only TM implements the dock pattern.
I don't understand what you mean by 'design choice'. To clarify, I don't really care if the widgets are merged, I just want an icon-only task manager that doesn't group icons. This feature is included in the regular task manager and I don't see why this one should have less features.
Forgot to mention, this already has the option to prevent grouping on a per-application basis in the 'more actions' portion of the context menu. I just want to be able to disable grouping for all applications.
That should be doable.
It would IMO make more sense to be able to disable grouping, because the icons-only taskmanager has enough space to hold plenty of application icons/launchers and an option to disable grouping is needed here. The only possibility am aware of is right-click on the grouped apps icon >More action >uncheck Allow this program to be grouped. This needs to be done for all applications where grouping is not wanted. Please consider an option also for icon-only taskmanager to disable grouping. Thank you very much.

Hi, I found a work around by: - Right click on the app in the icon taskbar > More Actions > Unmark "Allow this program to be grouped" KDE Plasma Version: 5.8.7 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.32.0 Qt Version: 5.6.2 openSUSE 42.3
+1 for this option, it's a pretty basic functionality, that (as mentioned in the other comments) is present in the labeled icons manager , and the workaround to disable grouping by app is not an obvious way to configure this behavior

There's an open patch that would implement this functionality: https://phabricator.kde.org/D23242 We are starting to accumulate duplicates. Marking as confirmed.

Add grouping and "Show Only Minimized" options to icons-only task manager Summary: FIXED-IN: 5.18.0 Being able to disable grouping for the icons-only task manager makes sense, because it has enough space to hold plenty of application icons/launchers. The "Show only tasks that are minimized" option is useful as well for the IOTM. {F7258179} Test Plan: Open the IOTM behavior settings page. Enable/disable grouping and toggle the "Show only tasks that are minimized" option.
