Description lnxusr 2016-09-06 17:46:15 UTC
Neither Muon or Discover show all available packages. The package (in this case, the one that was finally the straw that got me to report this, QOwnNotes) is confirmed available in both Synaptic and aptitude.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install PPA
2. Run Muon or Discover
3. Search for package

Actual Results:
Muon/Discover present blank page.

Expected Results:
Muon/Discover present package to be selected for install.

This has been ongoing for quite some time but I'm tired of dealing with it via Synaptic. This, as far as I know right now, is with PPA packages, but I'm not going through every available package name to confirm that. Not all PPAs seem to be affected (Vivaldi, for example is shown).

After installing with Synaptic, QOneNotes is shown in Muon so this may be the case with Vivaldi showing up as well. It's been a while since I installed it, and it seems to happen so often with PPA packages that I have no idea which packages were displayed and which I had to install with Synaptic.

Does this problem happen right after adding the PPA? Could it be the same as bug 362047 ? In this case after closing and opening Muon again the search should work.
Does the search work for other packages or does it always report a blank page?
Which version of Muon and Kubuntu are you using?
Which are the PPAs you are using?

Thanks for reporting and for the additional information, that should help me reproduce the bug.

Yes, this happens right after installing the ppa. I tried three random ppa repositories for this test, but this seems to occur on all ppa repositories.

ppa:atareao/atareao

ppa:webupd8team/sublime-text-3

ppa:ehoover/compholio

Install ppa from command line or from within Muon.
update package list

Start muon (if installing from command line)
Search for any package included in PPA and get empty list.

Like in bug 362047, the ppa shows in the 'Filter by Origin' category, but the package list is blank if there is a package in the search bar. Quiting muon and restarting got rid of the problem twice out of the three repositories listed above I tried. A third restart fixed it on the last. On all three occasions, Synaptic showed the packages without fail.

A search for other existing packages does not show a blank page. Muon version 5.6.0, KDE Frameworks 5.23.0, Qt 5.5.1 (built against 5.5.1), but like I said, this has been ongoing, I believe since Kubuntu 14.04. I know it was happening in 15.04, but I can't really say which KDE version I first noticed it.
