Description vasa 2016-09-05 23:25:53 UTC
Dear gwenview developers,
I think your program is very useful
however it is missing an important feature
Once I use spectacle(or any other place) and click a link, your program opens alright
however there is no easy way at all, from the program to copy the url from where
the image was opened!
of course I can copy it by hand from Recent Files, but this is impractical!
please add the ability:
by right clicking the image (copy url to clipboard) if it WAS opened from an url originally
or File->copy url of image to clipboard

or any other way you can imagine,
thank you!

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.open image from url anything with .png
2.
3.

Actual Results:
no way to copy the url the image was opened with

Expected Results:
right click on the image in the program and "copy image location" or "copy image url"

As a partial solution/workaround, in git master, there is now a "Show Containing Folder" feature that you can use to show the image in your file manager, where you can get the URL. Also, you can drag the image into Konsole to paste a path there.

If these are not sufficient, can you help us understand what your use case is?

That's easy :) – Just do Edit → Copy to copy the "image" to the clipboard. Pasting in a text editor will paste the URL, pasting in Dolphin will paste the file itself.

That's a handy feature not only in Gwenview, BTW. Try copying multiple items in Dolphin and pasting them in Kate. You get a nice list of URLs.

(I hope you'll understand we are reluctant to add this to the context menu. Copying the URL is not a common operation, the context menu is packed enough already and using the menu requires just the same amount of clicks.)
