Description Jonathan Kolberg 2016-08-31 09:40:55 UTC
When login in via sddm into a wayland session plasmashell does not start.
After trying to start it by hand in a konsole (krunner works) I get the following:

QObject::connect: invalid null parameter
xkbcommon: ERROR: Key "<LFSH>" added to modifier map for multiple modifiers; Using Lock, ignoring Shift
Using Wayland-EGL
file:///usr/share/plasma/shells/org.kde.plasma.desktop/contents/views/Panel.qml:80: TypeError: Cannot read property 'formFactor' of null
KCrash: Attempting to start /usr/bin/plasmashell from kdeinit
sock_file=/run/user/1000/kdeinit5__1
KCrash: crashing... crashRecursionCounter = 2
KCrash: Application Name = plasmashell path = /usr/bin pid = 19927
KCrash: Arguments: /usr/bin/plasmashell
KCrash: Attempting to start /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libexec/drkonqi from kdeinit
sock_file=/run/user/1000/kdeinit5__1
QSocketNotifier: Invalid socket 9 and type 'Read', disabling...
[1]  + 19927 suspended (signal)  plasmashell

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Wayland Session
2. No desktop appears
3. Start Konsole
4. type in plasmashell

Actual Results:
QObject::connect: invalid null parameter
xkbcommon: ERROR: Key "<LFSH>" added to modifier map for multiple modifiers; Using Lock, ignoring Shift
Using Wayland-EGL
file:///usr/share/plasma/shells/org.kde.plasma.desktop/contents/views/Panel.qml:80: TypeError: Cannot read property 'formFactor' of null

sock_file=/run/user/1000/kdeinit5__1
QSocketNotifier: Invalid socket 9 and type 'Read', disabling...
[1]  + 19927 suspended (signal)  plasmashell

Expected Results:
After the 1. step the desktop should appear

needs a complete backtrace with debug packages installed
Comment 2 Jonathan Kolberg 2016-11-18 11:21:50 UTC
As off today I was able to start plasmashell with a wayland session, but I'm now on the master version of today. So I can't reproduce it.
