Initially, the Kate package was missing the Help component. I installed 'khelpcenter4 through Synaptic. Then, when selecting Help (F1), brings up the Kate help menu with the following message: "Help:/kate/index.html file or folder does not exist" so the Help menu listing does nothing. Click on Help and select Kate handbook or tap F1 2. 3.
Do you have the package kate-data installed?
Thanks for the reply. kate-data is installed and is the latest version. In the meantime, I also updated kate to Version 3.7 and Using KDE Development Platform 4.14.13
Forgot to mention that the same problem exists in the new version as well.
I guess there is no support for this and other Kate shortcomings.
You know this is a bugtracker and no support channel? I just installed a fresh Xubuntu 14.04 in a virtual machine. When the new system rebootet I entered "sudo apt-get install kate khelpcenter4" in a terminal. Starting Kate + using Help->Kate Handbook or F1 opens the Kate Handbook in KHelpcenter. You have a broken system

Burkhard Lueck, I am amazed at your powers of deduction that I have a broken system. For me Kate a brand new editor just installed a couple of days ago. I have reinstalled everything but I noticed that the online version of Kate Handbook is for version 16.04??? Also, if this is not a bug, I don't know what you would call a bug. Is there any data that I can provide from the installation to resolve this issue?
