(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: kmail Version: KDE 2.9.1 CVS/CVSup/Snapshot Severity: normal Installed from: Compiled sources Compiler: Not Specified OS: Linux OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified Hello When you have encrypted messages in a folder and the GPG password is not cached KMail aks you for the password whenever you *click* on the message. However if I mark one message (any message) then hold Shift and mark an encrypted one it is clear that I want to do something with these messages e.g. deleting moving etc. I normally do not intend to show the last marked message. But KMail aks for the GPG password as soon as I select the encrypted message. The problem is not just that I am asked for the password. Valuable time is wasted in decrypting and/or verifying. Volker (Submitted via bugs.kde.org)
For decrypting messages, this may be true. But I like the feature of being able to see the message I marked, especially when sorting greater amounts of messages. Thunderbird, for example, does not have this feature and I always have to either guess which content the message has or split moving in two parts.
I support comment 1's sentiments. Having the preview show for the last-selected message is a massive timesaver, far more so that the "valuable time" (milliseconds?) spent validating/decrypting content. Having to enter your passphrase (or cancelling it) is sometimes a little annoying but more often than not is for my needs at least, is the preferred behaviour. Perhaps an option in preferences to not show contents when multi-selecting?
It shows the last selected mail (even when multi-selecting) in kmail 1.10.90, svn r888112.

using the mouse to click-select seems to work, so it seems only related to keyboard
