Description Gunther Piez 2016-08-24 21:47:10 UTC
Dolphin version 16.08.0

HowTo:

Use some software which uses the function keys F7-F11, like the debugger in android studio
Debug some software using F7-F11
Start dolphin, the have it in the background or even quit
Get slowly insane trying to use the function keys in android studio

After assigning and then unassigning the keys in question to any kde app using global shortcuts in systemsettings, the function keys work again - until dolphin is used again.

I can use F11 in Firefox just fine, with Dolphin open in the background. Sounds like an Android Studio specific issue?
Comment 2 Gunther Piez 2016-12-28 10:12:30 UTC
The issue was caused by the "keyboard hardware and layouts" component in systemsettings in conjunction with an apple aluminium keyboard. Apparently at some point during kde startup the fn key on the keyboard gets toggled, but only for the multimedia keys (F7-F12).

After messing around for a few hours I have given up and use just good old xorg.conf :-)
