Everything works almost perfect and surprisingly fast in my Kubuntu 16.04, including such heavy-weight programs as Chromium and Firefox browsers. The problem is with the Plasma-Discover center. When I open it, it almost completely freezes - slowing to a crawl would not even describe it, making it impossible to use. I have found that if I go directly to the Update tab from update task bar notifications and then to installed applications - everything works fast and snappy. Only when I go to the Discover tab everything freezes. I believe it is related to those useless animated tiles on that home page. I wish there was a way in Settings to get rid of them and make it more functional. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open the Discover center. 2. 3. My computer is Dell Inspiron 6400.
This will be fixed with the kirigami redesign (see kirigami branch). This will probably land by 5.9.
I hope it will be soon. Thanks.
Will be in with Plasma 5.8
