Description jeremy9856 2016-08-20 19:59:05 UTC
Hello,

Devices in left panel are not sorted. The order change each time Dolphin is opened. I think they should be alphabetically sorted to have a more consistent behaviour.

Thanks !

Reproducible: Always

Bug still exists in 17.08.1 under Arch.

Dolphin should either:

* disable drag and drop on that list and sort alphabetically

or

* remember the order created by drag and drop

Please as a first step disable drag and drop to not give the false impression that this is a user sortable list.

17.12.1… still Buggy.

Please, can someone implement the sort function!? This behavior is so annoying! And the solution is maybe just something like ".sort" at the end of the right list/variable.

This functionality is provided by KIO now; moving there.

We are working on it, not to worry.

I doubt that the KIO backend can disable drag and drop in the dolphin GUI. If you think that disabling drag and drop is a different issue then reopen my bug report that was marked as a duplicate of this one.

With four devices in my Places Panel's Devices section, I don't see this in Dolphin 18.12.2 or git master, with KDE Frameworks 5.55 or git master.

Can anyone using a recent version confirm that they're still experiencing the issue?

dolphin 18.12.3, not alphabetically sorted. I attempted closing dolphin and rebooting.
Comment 14 Nate Graham 2019-03-19 09:18:01 UTC
"Not alphabetically sorted" and "order changes each time Dolphin is opened" are different things. I can confirm "not alphabetically sorted" but not the random order changing.
