This address the fairly common situation of an application coming up maximized (undraggable) on the left head when I want/need it on the right head. (or vice-versa). As it is I have to "unmaximize" it re-focus the mouse on the border drag it over to the other head then maximize it again. Annoying to say the least. I couldn't find this in the bug database as a wishlist item so I apologize if this is a duplicate. Thanks! (Submitted via bugs.kde.org)
I like the idea personally, but I'm skeptical about actually including it. The reason is that it basically adds another dimension for the user to deal with, and for power users (who true enough are generally the Xinerama users), this is great. However, for the average user, it's a lot of extra information to process. Is it really so worth it to add this?
I logged in today with plans to bug-report much the same idea, except what I had in mind was "Maximize to Other Screen" right under the "Maximize" menu item.
Well it is a feature i've used in windows very frequently.. a program called ultramon added the menu option send to monitor.. and if there was more than 1 monitor available, a small dialog with the monitor arrangement allowed u to click which monitor you wanted it to go to. It works either if the window is maximised or minmized.. This is a feature i too would like to see included in kde if possible!
I'd also like this as well... A shortcut key to do this would be nice too...
Chiming in here. Can't this just be enabled if Xinerama support / more than one screen is detected? Power Users happy, Average Users aren't bothered by meaningless options.
I like this, too. Assuming desktops are named, the options could be named like: 'Development (left)' 'Development (right)' 'Personal (left)' 'Personal (right)' etc. I assume KDE can determine where one screen is relative to the other.
if you enable the option to allow dragging of maximised windows, you're halfway there ;) I use xinerama, and can drag a maximised window from one desktop to the other.
I don't know whether this is an acceptable comment, but it would also be nice if when a window was maximized to one screen, it wouldn't span two displays.
I'd would also like having such a feature in KDE. I got to know this stuff under windows using the options of the nVidia drivers, where one might add an additional button to the windows, which quickly moves the window to the next screen in multihead. when the window was maximized and its size doesnt fit on the the next screen the window then was resized. I think this feature was great!
