The recent 3 times muon updater hung after installing the components with the message "Waiting for configuration file" (not sure about the correct translation – German msg says "Einrichtungsdatei"). No functions are available and even the window can't be closed with the title button. I have to close muon with KSysGuard. In addition I noticed that muon updater doesn't show up in the system tray as it usually did when system updates are available. Just the system notifier informed me. Well now the tray icon shows up with no updates available, except the one about the new Kubuntu version, which I currently really don't want to install due to my lack of better Linux/Kubuntu skills and – as far as I could read – a lack of program availability/compatibility. Nevertheless, without this waiting msg it can be closed normally. By the way: how can I stop this message? (but this isn't as necessary as having muon working properly) I'd really appreciate any help :) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. run muon updater 2. install updates Actual Results: muon hangs with the "Waiting" message Expected Results: muon should finish its job Kubuntu 14.04 LTS KDE 4.13.3 all updates installed – as far as I can say regarding this problem
Meanwhile muon updater seems to be unable to work at all. The systray icon stays active with a message of now 24 packages but when I start it, it keeps waiting for other processes that have to be finished first (no information about that). And again I must use KSysGuard to get rid off the window. Please, I would like to get Kubuntu back to working fine again. Who can explain what to do?
Hello? Can anybody help please? Or give a hint? Muon still doesn't work. It does not search for updates and when I update manually it hangs all the time saying something like "waiting for configuration file" and I cannot close the windows except from KSysGuard. I NEED HELP !!!
Maybe you can join #kubuntu on IRC and tell them about the problem. Usually you can use apt-get to fix any installation problem? Also note that you're using a version that hasn't been maintained for a while.
Oh! Actually I've never been using IRC so I'm not firm with that. Sorry but I'm not yet quite experienced in Ubuntu, so how can I fix an installation problem with apt-get or where can I read about that. Is my problem an installation problem at all as I've been using it for almost a year and it worked fine so far until a few weeks ago. Is there a newer version of muon? And is it save to use it with Kubuntu 14.04?
OK, in the meantime I boldly tried to run "apt-get autoremove" and I'm embarrassed to admit: it worked. THANK YOU Aleix Pol for the hint!!! Today is a good day because I've learned something :-)
