Description Thomas Damgaard 2016-08-09 13:01:37 UTC
I just installed debian 8 and kde-full on my workstation.
I have a dual monitor setup with one VGA monitor attached as well as one HDMI monitor attached.

When I do the initial login, only one monitor is enabled inside System Settings > Hardware > Disaplay.
I enable the second monitor and set up resolution, etc. It works fine.
Next time I start up the machine and login, my settings are gone.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open System Settings > Hardware > Disaplay.
2. Configure dual screens (extended display)
3. Logout
4. Login again

Actual Results:
Display configuration is gone

Expected Results:
Display configuration should be saved.

If I go to services and disable KScreen2 service, then I can configure the displays manually using "disper" or xrandr.

Thanks, Thomas, for the bug report!

We're not maintaining Plasma 4 anymore upstream, so this bug is unlikely to get attention in Plasma 4. I'm pretty confident that this is fixed in Plasma 5, however, so once you decide to upgrade, it should work just fine. If it doesn't (especially with 5.8, where we fixed a lot of multi screen problems), please file a separate bug report.

Sorry to not be more useful for your immediate situation, though.
