Description alexandre.skobinsky 2016-07-31 12:26:17 UTC
I can't unlock the widgets: when I right-click the desktop or a panel and click "unlock widgets", the panels disappear, then come back, widgets still locked and marked as locked. reboot doesn't fix it.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. right click on the desktop or panel(s)
2. select lock widgets
3. right click on the desktop or panel(s) again
4. select unlock widgets

Actual Results:
the widgets aren't unlocked and the three horizontal bars (hamburger menu?) on the panel don't show up

Expected Results:
The widgets and panels should have been unlocked and editable

I only have one active panel with these widgets:
* application launcher
* icons-only task manager
* lock/leave buttons
* system tray
* digital clock

>the panels disappear, then come back

Is that plasmashell crashing?
You can easily tell because the PID will change.

Please set the bug status back to "unconfirmed" when you reply.

Haven't found another solution to this issue than resetting my plasma installed, so I can't confirm. I'll try it on a vm when I have the time, but if anyone can reproduce it before that, I'd be very grateful.

Judging from the backtrace in the linked bugreport it was crashing when trying to play the notification sound for the "you just unlocked widgets" notifcation
Comment 7 Nate Graham 2020-01-13 05:31:59 UTC
Looks like it. Has this happened again since? Is it still reproducible in Plasma 5.17? I haven't seen this myself or gotten any other reports of it to my knowledge.
