Launching dolphin through terminal shows this: > "The process for the trash protocol died unexpectedly." > Trying to convert empty KLocalizedString to QString. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open dolphin (command line/launcher/other app) 2. Try to browse a location (through places menu) Actual Results: The error message "The process for the file protocol died unexpectedly." Also noticing that searching from Application launcher is very sluggish/barely unusable. plasma-workspace crashed few times
Version 16.04.3

This happens when the ioslave process times out, for whatever reason. > Also noticing that searching from Application launcher is very > sluggish/barely unusable. plasma-workspace crashed few times Sounds like you have a generic workspace problem, not Dolphin specific. I suggest you get in contact with the Fedora support channels.
