Description Jörg Neulist 2016-07-13 21:05:34 UTC
The menu search in Appilcation Dashboard, Launcher, and Menu broke for me with the last update. Now it does not find anything anymore. It just says "Searching for 'k'...", for example, and stays empty.

The menu itself looks fine. I have tried using kmenuedit to re-generate the menu to no avail.
I have checked the search plugin settings in the settings menu (does this even apply?) , but everything enabled is as broken as everything off.
I have tried setting dashboard's search option ("expand to files etc.") to off or on - neither works.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open dashboard, launcher, or menu.
2. Type 'k'.

Actual Results:
Search does not find anything.

Expected Results:
Search finds all installed programs with a 'k' in their name or description.

I am not aware of any configuration specialties. I use the standard generated Debian menu with no additions or changes.
I migrated from Cinnamon, which gives me some peculiarities. But that was at least two versions ago, and it did work before.

It works here. If you still have the issue with a freshly created user account on Plasma 5.8 or newer, please add a comment.
