Since 5.6.95 the quicklaunch icons started looking very pixelated. For some sizes it seems that the icons still looks good, i think that it's because it's not resizing the original icons. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Use the quicklaunch applet. 2. Resize the launcher. Actual Results: Pixelated icons. Expected Results: Smooth icons.

It uses normal IconItem for rendering the icon. Do you have the same issue also in other parts of desktop (eg. in task manager or single launchers?)
No, i don't have it, that's the weirdest part. I thought the same thing, it should happen everywhere but only happens in the quicklauncher. Also, it's happening in two different desktops, so i don't think it's a configuration issue. Do you wan't me to test anything? Let me know if i can help.
Does changing the applet size helps?
I can reproduce it myself, at certain icon size it is pixelated.

Can you please test again with Plasma 5.8? I can no longer reproduce this.
Sadly nothing changed here. I updated openSUSE Tumbleweed with the new Plasma Desktop 5.8 in my two computers, also tried creating the widget again, but still looks pixelated.
Can you try clearing icon cache? ~/.cache/plasma* ~/.cache/icon-cache.kcache while plasmashell is not running.
I've also tried deleting the cache and recreating the widget but still no luck. It's the same situation as before, with some widgets sizes seems to work fine, but for others it looks pixelated.
I want to add some more information: While resizing i observed that also the icons from the right ( not the widget icons ) breaks, as observed in this screenshot: https://puu.sh/rMPlf/bbcfcc6392.png But, while resizing the widget looks perfect: https://puu.sh/rMPkl/e79edeca66.png After releasing the mouse button, it resizes again to fit some invisible grid and breaks again.
