Description edA-qa mort-ora-y 2016-07-10 09:36:45 UTC
Previously (Known in Kubuntu 12.04) the file open dialog with start with the focus in the `Name` field. This is important for UX since it allows one to use the keyboard to quickly open a file near the current file. The focus now is in listing field and doesn't offer the option to type (it's possible that previosuly just starting to type changed the focus automatically).

I understand this a common dialog, but the change in focus hurts the UX of kate.

Reproducible: Always

Version: 15.12.3
Using:
KDE Frameworks 5.18.0
Qt 5.5.1 (built against 5.5.1)
The xcb windowing system

With 16.08 and Frameworks 5.25 for the focus is in the name field.
If that happens for you even with current versions, please report against platform integration.
