Description Bzzz 2016-07-03 22:09:50 UTC
Upgrading my Ubuntu 16.04 LTS installation with PPA from 5.6.4 to 5.6.5, either some setting has been reset or some bug has sneaked in: The font of the task bar items goes from normal to some ridiculous small setting when switching from a single-row layout to a dual-row one due to opening one additional application. Screenshots are attached. When resizing the task bar, the font quickly gets bigger with small height adjustments, but my default bar height seems to allow only one pixel of font height because of massive margins at each border.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open enough applications to fill the task bar in single-line mode
2. Open one additional application

Actual Results:
3. Enjoy unreadable text with huge border spacing

Expected Results:
3. Smaller font, better usage of the limited task bar space...

Broken theme with bad margins.

Which means I have to do what exactly?

Options are:
- Switch to a less broken theme (e.g. the default theme Breeze)
- Contact the author of the theme you're using and ask them to fix the theme
- Fix the theme

Well, this theme was mostly "oxygen" and some "air" for the task bar, air apparently got broken with changes in 5.6.5 (nobody cares about old official/default themes when the new HYPE square ones are out - how could anybody not like it and stick to the old one?). Which is kinda funny, how to contact the author of a default KDE theme if not via the KDE bugtracker...

I now gutted some black theme that falls back to breeze and replaced the taskbar svg in ~/.local/share/plasma/desktoptheme/ with a transparent one - problem fixed. I will switch to a darker theme once negative values are supported for RGB settings.

FWIW there weren't any layout changes to the Task Manager in 5.6.5.
