In previous versions of Plasma I could use the folderview applet to point e.g. to settings:///hardware/display/ . In this case I would see all the system settings modules in /hardware/display/ (in my case compositor, gamma and monitor settings) within the folder view applet. After upgrading to 5.7 Beta I only see a question-mark icon in the folder view applet - clicking on it reveals the system settings modules. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a folder view applet on the desktop. 2. Point it to location and enter some settings:// url (e.g. settings://hardware/display/) Actual Results: Question mark icon is displayed. Expected Results: All icons within the settings group should be displayed and the relevant system settings modules should start when clicked on. There was some blog post highlighting this feature in a previous Plasma version: http://www.alexl.netsons.org/blogposts/plasmatricks-smartplaces/
This works just fine for me on Plasma git (close to 5.7 beta, no relevant code changes I'm aware of), both initially after changing the config and also on subsequent restarts. With the sample URL of "settings:///hardware/display/". Could you add a screenshot of the wrong display perhaps? Might provide a clue. Note the bug (if any) might also be outside of Folder View regardless (e.g. in the settings:// kioslave).
Created attachment 100042 [details] screenshot showing settings panel + question mark icon Clicking on the questionmark brings up a pop-up with display settings, compositor & gamma settings (don't know the original english names for these settings panels).
It also works for me now in Plasma 5.8.7. Closing it.
