Description ChristianB 2016-06-14 16:41:59 UTC
As I said in the summary, the Krita 3.0 stops working at what seems like random intervals. Happens whether I'm drawing or painting, but has begun only in the last few days. I get the message "krita.exe stopped working" and have to close. Tried reinstalling Krita 3.0 repeatedly. Not helping. I'm working on a Pro Surface 3-- not sure if that means something.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open existing file on Pro Surface 3.
2. Start drawing.
3. Crash after between 5 and 15 minutes.

Actual Results:
Error message from Windows claiming "krita.exe stopped working." Windows says it's looking for a solution but doesn't find one. Sometimes, when I re-open Krita 3.0, I get an error saying the "runtime environment isn't responding."

Expected Results:
Allowed me to keep drawing.

Hi Christian,

I'm afraid I cannot reproduce this on my own Surface Pro 3, where I can draw for an hour on end without problems. But let's go through the usual questions: what is your usual image size, color model and channel depth? Do you have opengl enabled in the settings dialog? Do you have any custom "security" software installed like sandboxie?

Hi there,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! Most appreciated. By the way, I
think Krita is great-- would love to get it working again.

To answer your questions:
1. Usual image size is 1080 by 1080 pixels, 300 ppi, RGB, 8 bit.
2. Opengl is enabled, yes.
3. I have sandboxie, but it isn't running (far as I can tell).

Shall I delete sandboxie?

Thanks very much,
Christian.

Try to disable OpenGL and check if that makes a difference.

opengl should be fine on an sp3 -- I have it on as well. But software like sandboxie is know to cause problems. Are you using one of the installers or the zip file version?

Hi there,

I've just deleted sandboxie from my sp3 after finding it running in the
background. Seems to help!

Thanks very much for your help!

Christian.

Okay, thanks for checking!

I am having a similar problem, I get the same notification, but usually when I try to open a new document, or before Krita had even fully loaded. I have tried various settings and even opening an animation.

And have you got sandboxie or something similar installed?

No, nothing like that.

Can you try to get more information for us by following https://docs.krita.org/KritaFAQ#How_can_I_produce_a_backtrace_on_Windows.3F ?
