If I press <Alt><F2>, krunner also crashes. The only way of shutting down the system is <Ctrl><Alt><Del>, which also crashes kmserver, followed by short press on Power button on my box.

It all started when updating the proprietary NVIDIA driver after restarting and could not enter KDE was left with a black screen until you change the type of section could enter but did not appear like the desktop only yakuake nothing more
After upgrade to Linux 4.1.26-21-default, this bug no longer manifests itself. Looks like it's specific to version 4.1.21-14-default. Marking as resolved.
