My setup contains of a (default) IMAP and a POP3 account. Both are associated with separate identities. When I set the IMAP account as the default I'm not able to compose a new message for the POP3 account. Switching the default allows to compose messages based on the account that is currently being selected. KMail 5.2.1, Arch Linux Reproducible: Always
I have the same problem with my work and personal accounts. To reproduce: 1. Set up two identities with corresponding IMAP and SMTP settings. 2. Make one of them default. 3. Compose a new message. 4. Try to select the other identity from the "Identity:" combo-box. 5. Combo-box does not exist any more (was there in the 4.x series). Instead there is an editable "From:" field. The old identity selector also changed the SMTP server that would be used for that message.
