Hi there, I'm new to this procedure... I have some trouble with digikam, I'm running it on Win7 x64 Version 4.12 I was using it for some week and started organizing plenty of pictures into the database. Some time, after I copied some pictures via Windows Explorer into the pictures Folder, Digikam is always crashing after startup. It doesn't crash with a message, instead digikam doesn't respond and uses full consumption of one CPU. I tried reinstalling, with a fresh database it is running fine, as soon I use the existing one, it crashes again. There are plenty of hours work in that database, so really hope someone may help me. best wishes Simon
This problem have been already reported in the past. Definitively, digiKam 4.x under Windows is not stable enough. For 5.0.0, we have rewrite a lots of code and make a new cross-compiling workflow to generate Windows installer. A beta 5.0.0 installer is just out, just for testing. I update it step by step when dysfunctions are discovered and fixed (and there are...) If you is interested to contribute to test and report dysfunctions, let's me hear... Gilles Caulier

Hi Gilles, thanks for your quick reply. I installed digiKam 5.0.0 and it's working fine, looking good and not crashing. But, it doesn't load the 4.1.2 database completely. It's strange, in the Tag tree there are some Tags from the old database, but not all. If I click on one of the few tags there is no content behind them. Do you have any idea how to recreate the old database?
Just rename the digikam4.db file and restart digiKam. It will rescan the collection and re-create tags. Gilles Caulier
Know bugs : i found bug : - Some signal slot connections are broken in ScanController : add new items in an album do not refresh contents automatically. F5 has no effect too. - Switch to Full screen : main menu is lost. Context menu, show main menu action do not fix the problem. You need to reset the option in digikamrc file located in windows to "~./Local Settings/Application Data/" - kipi plugins use KIO (ex GoogleDrive). KLauncher do not find dbus even if all executable and settings are included. We need to investigate in-deep. - Try to change colors theme : the rendering in main menu is horrible and unsuitable... - Even if all Breeze icons + digiKam icons are embedded as ressources, some icons cannot be found, as Properties tab from right sidebar. Perhaps we need to add Oxygen icon-sets ... - Icons overlay over iconview items to rotate left/right do not work. That all for the moment. I'm that other one exists... Gilles Caulier
guess that was not ment to me^^ ? hm, it doesn't recreate the tags also all pictures were rated, which they are not anymore. except for some very few, they are rated, like 10 of 10000.
