A couple of weeks ago I upgraded my system from KDE4 to Plasma 5 and KDE Apps 15. Today I noticed that I'm missing quite a lot of my files in the collection and Amarok doesn't seem to be able to recognize them any longer. I could play them before the upgrade as an entire artist has disappeared and I didn't do any upgrade then. * If I rename an album "Då som nu för alltid" to "Test" it finds all tracks that doesn't include any åäö. * If I manually add the tracks to amarok I can play them. * Tried to move files from NFS to a local collection. No difference. * Removed .kde4/share/apps/amarok and .kde/share/config/amarok*. No difference. * I'm using phonon-gstreamer, tried with phonon-vlc. No difference * Filenames are in UTF-8 (I had this problem 3–4 years ago, but fixed it after converting to UTF-8). I upgraded quite a lot of packages back then, so it could be something else, but I'm not sure what other packages except kde packages could've changed this behavior. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Add local folder with international characters (in UTF-8) 2. Press Update Collection Actual Results: Files with international isn't shown in collection Expected Results: All files should be shown Gentoo kernel 3.17.8-gentoo-r1 Upgraded from KDE 4.14
OK, I was about to give up, but I just remember testing everything fully fresh. I created a new user and ran amarok and it worked. So there is probably something wrong in my .kde4 folder or somewhere else...
Hm, since Amarok is still a Qt4 application, I doubt this is Amarok's fault. Closing as it works with a new user.
