Description Giacomo Alzetta 2016-05-23 08:00:03 UTC
On my system (Kubuntu 16.04 both with plasma 5.5 and plasma 5.6 installed via backports PPA) the Kate application has stopped saving settings.

For example I go to settings, extensions and enable the konsole integration. I then close Kate and if I reopen it there's no terminal. I tried to create a new session, then change the settings and save the session but when reopening the session the extensions are gone.

This didn't happen with kubuntu 15.10 but I experienced it from when I moved to kubuntu 16.04, both with the "standard" plasma 5.5 and even right now that I have upgraded to plasma 5.6.4 via kubuntu backports.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Launch Kate
2. Go to settings and enable an extension
3. close Kate
4. Reopen Kate

Actual Results:
The extension you have enabled is disabled again.

Expected Results:
The extension is enabled until you disable it explicitly via the settings.

I must add that even sessions aren't being properly saved.
Sometimes Kate is able to save the session, however it always result in an empty session (0 open documents). And after closing Kate again sometimes all sessions and even recently opened documents are gone.

I tried with Filesystem browser and it did not disappear after close & relaunch.
Can you give some specific extension to try? Or maybe you can test with the latest version to see, if the problem is gone?

Arch Linux 64-bit
Kate 16.04.2
KDE Frameworks 5.23.0
Qt 5.7
