Description Elayna 2016-05-16 00:07:03 UTC
Most likely due to me force shutting down my computer before leaving for school, my krita file will now not open. I have installed a zip file and have recovered a thumbnail .png of the work, but the full high quality work would be ideal. I too have a recovered version from last week but I have done 12+ hours of work and would really really appreciate if there was a way I could get the work back. I also have the layers in .icc form and was wondering if there is a way to make them usable? Thank you!!

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Opened up Krita, error showed.
2.
3.

Actual Results:
"Could not open C:/Users/Elayna/Desktop/Serenity-concept-lineart.kra
Reason: Not a valid Krita file: C:/Users/Elayna/Desktop/Serenity-concept-lineart.kra"

Expected Results:
My file to open

In recovering a .zip (the one with the thumbnail png) I tried converting the zip to a .kra file. Upon opening the new file it showed:
"Could not open C:/Users/Elayna/Desktop/Home Art/recover2.kra
Reason: Could not load pixel data: Serenity-concept-lineart/layers/layer21..
Could not read pixel data: Serenity-concept-lineart/layers/layer20."

What you can do is go into the zip, and then open maindoc.xml, and remove the entries for layers 20 and 21, save, rename the zip back to kra(but without saving over the original kra file) and then trying to open it with Krita again. The file should then open with layers 20 and 21 missing, but at the least all other layers should be fine.

We can try to look into it further if you wouldn't mind sharing the kra file.

In the future, do use the forum, as this is technically not a bug. (And I guess, use sleep mode when in a hurry next time? That'll at the very least give you a chance to resave it when waking the computer up again)
