Description Gregor Mi 2016-05-08 11:06:21 UTC
When I add a word to dictionary using the context menu the underlining disappears but when I reload the document the word is again underlined.

No problem here.
Please check with the very latest version.

Arch Linux 64-bit
Kate 16.04.2
KDE Frameworks 5.23.0
Qt 5.7
xcb wm
Comment 2 Gregor Mi 2016-07-23 07:14:59 UTC
The problem might be overlapping with the following repaint issue:

With German dictionary I write "Das ist ein Test". => "Das", "ist" and "ein" are underlined even though the sentence is correct. When I scroll the view so that the line is repainted the underlining disappears.

(Kate 15.12.3, KDE Frameworks 5.24.0, Qt 5.6.1 (built against 5.6.1), The xcb windowing system)

Word gets underlined dispite the fact that it is in the correction list

Here a screenshot of an example of a word that is apparently in the dictionary ("Satz") but gets underlined.

Can you test with Kate 16.04.3?
Comment 5 Sebastian Schrader 2016-07-23 08:04:05 UTC
I just tested with KWrite 16.04.3 on Arch Linux and could always reproduce the following behavior:

If I add a new word to the dictionary the word is no longer underlined with red until a repaint occurs, e.g. by scrolling. After a repaint the word is again underlined. If I restart KWrite however the added word is never underlined.

I added the KDE:Applications repository (http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Applications/openSUSE_Leap_42.1/) to get the latest version of kate (16.04.3).

The "Das ist ein Test" bug is still reproducible (except when I type it in the last line of the text buffer and press enter)

Setting to confirmed per comment 5.
Comment 8 Kevin 2018-04-17 18:28:00 UTC
I can confirm this behavior on Arch Linux kate 17.12.3 and kwrite 17.12.3. However, once I add the word to the dictionary using calligra 3.1.0, then kate and kwrite recognize the word. What file are these words stored in?
