Description Mathieu MD 2016-05-03 22:02:55 UTC
It would be super nice if metadata written by Darktable (http://www.darktable.org/) in XMP files could be displayed by digiKam in the Versions panel.

My workflow is something like this:
1 - Import RAW photos from cameras into digiKam
2 - Apply tags and set title, description, etc.
3 - Remove rejected photos
4 - Rename photos
5 - Develop and retouch photos into Darktable (via "Open with..." in digiKam)

In short, I use digiKam for its powerful catalog and search features, but I use Darktable for most editing needs.

So it would be wonderful if digiKam could know of the relation between RAW files and it's children versions, just like it already does when editing an image from inside digiKam itself.

Reproducible: Always

 >the relation between RAW files and it's children versions...

What's these info exactly ? RAW processing settings ? If yes, we cannot do something with that, this DarkTable stuff only...

Some of this is possible.
See here: https://userbase.kde.org/Digikam/Tutorials/Setup_of_digiKam_for_Windows_compatibility#Step_2_-_Fix_which_metadata_is_written_into_files

It is possible to exchange tags and star-rating between Darktable and Digikam, so that tags set in one program are recognized by the other.
If you set it up right, it works in both directions.

Preferred solution:
Ideally there would be a "set data exchange for Darktable" setting which would configure all the metadata to work with Darktable.

This is already implemented, you can load a metadata profile for darktable in the advanced metadata settings.
