Description Tharbad 2016-04-30 20:31:34 UTC
Can you add an option to write SMS from the PC?

Thanks

Reproducible: Always
Comment 1 Albert Vaca Cintora 2016-09-19 14:28:36 UTC
This is a bigger task than just replying because would require to get the contact list, but I've added it to todo.kde.org.
Comment 2 Sergio 2017-06-15 07:42:50 UTC
If it can be quicker, please forget about the contact list for now and let one enter the number explicitly, copying it over from the mobile.

What would be most useful right now is the possibility to use the PC keyboard instead of the virtual keyboard on the phone to type the SMS.

Right now, this can be done with the kdeconnect-cli, but having the applet support would be much better.

opensuse 42.3 supplies 1.0.3

with 1.0.3 plasma applet there is nowhere any button to access to "send an sms"
Comment 10 Albert Vaca Cintora 2018-01-20 14:24:22 UTC
You will need to use the command line (kdeconnect-cli) for now. It's not available from the UI.
Comment 11 Philippe ROUBACH 2018-01-20 14:29:25 UTC
@albert

yes i know this feature but it does not work wtih opensuse 42.3

can we expect this feature with next version 12.x ?
Comment 12 Albert Vaca Cintora 2018-01-20 14:30:42 UTC
Even using the latest version? Have you given SMS permissions on the Android app? It should work from the CLI.

Is it me, or since that Play Store thing over kdeconnect sending SMS's the feature that allowed to send/reply SMS's from the desktop is broken?

Because i get the notifications but there's no way to reply as there used to be...

No, nothing changed permanently due to the Play thing.

Hi Nicolas.
Then why was i used to be able to press "reply" button on the notification and reply to an sms from my desktop and now i can't?

If you guys didn't change anything, then it must be my system. Any clue you can give me?

I get just a regular notification with no button or option to reply the text message. (i'm on openSUSE Tumbleweed)

check that you get last kdeconnect-kde 1.3.4 and last kdeconnect-android normally you get the button.

if not it's look like an old problem which was solved.

in kdeconnec-android settings > notification sync
try to disable "your sms app"
thus you will get sms notification from kdeconnect with a button to reply
and no more sms notification from your sms app.

i'm running kdeconnect-kde 1.3.4 on the desktop and 1.12.7 on android.

In kdeconnect-android' settings i only have "Persistent Notification" (not "sync") but no "Your sms app" option.

can i be looking in the wrong place?

kdeconnect-android settings > external modules settings > nofication sync

unselect "your sms app"

"your sms app" means the app you use to send/receive sms

beware: you can have 2 sms apps. ypu must unselect all ones.

Found it! Thanks. However the problem persists.

In fact, if i remove that i don't get *any* notification at all.

I should add that this is now working ok (probably one of the last updates).

As such i believe this bug could be closed.

One off-topic (since i can't find any related bug): Desktop KDE Connect isn't detecting when i connect my phone and i have to open the config window and press Update so that it detects it. Is anyone aware of such problem?

thank you all
