i really appreciate all your guys work in KDE. I use an old netbook and i always try to give this device a new chance. Right now i try to use Kubuntu 16.04 with the last KDE. Actually i am kind of happy with this installation. All applications seems to run well, except muondiscover. My netbook is so old, i am happy with the overall kind of speed. But the discover application is so so slow. It really is not usable on my device. Most problematic seems to be the start screen with the 'advertisements', its all rearranging and resizing again and again. Maybe its because of the device screen resolution(1024*600)? It is really a problem with the start screen. If i change to a detail view of a software, all seems to be working much faster. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. start muondiscover on my device Actual Results: muondiscover is extremly slow. It really is unusable on my device. If i select a software the problems are gone. But its hardly impossble to input text in the search bar. The 'advertisement' in the upper area seems to be an animation? Pictures and images are chaotically mixed. Expected Results: faster response or better a response at all. Maybe a switch for not displaying advertisements.
Created attachment 98569 [details] Shows the discover start screen with chaotic upper 'advertisement' area
The "chaos" part is fixed (it was reported BUG: 362059). Regarding the fact that it's slow, we should see why that is, if you get more precise information please report and I'll do whatever I can.
Hey Aleix, what kind of information do you need? I am not sure how i can be more precise. Maybe i didnt make myself clear: Starting Discover leads to an empty application window for long time (its minutes, not seconds). If the upper part with the messed up content shows up, its all getting slow. Trying to type in a word the search bar in the upper right corner doesnt work. Actually even clicking in this input field doesnt work. It somehow feels like a endless loop running on my system. All is slowed down. My netbook only has a Intel® Atom™ Processor N280 with one core, Hyperthreading enabled. I know, its outdated and of course you should not put too much work into it if i am the only one with this issue. I just wanted to let you know. Is this upper part an animation or something? It looks like the parte are moving somehow, even if i see a change only after every 30 seconds. I'll see if your BF is available and report back if it's solved. Regards.
