Description eemantsal 2016-04-21 20:29:10 UTC
When a dialog appears, f.e. when you try to open a file with a precise program, and you right click -> Open with -> Choose application (probably the text isn't exactly that way, I have KDE in spanish and am translating myself), you will probably want to increase the dialog's vertical size to see all the categories and browse without annoyances; or when try to change some folder's icon and go for the icon selection dialog, by default in the window's size only fit 12 icons, so one will again want to resize it to make it bigger. The problem is that Plasma doesn't remember that size, so the next time no matter how you resized them, they will appear the same size than before and one has to repeat the process.
I know that window sizes can be configured by hand, by I think that should not be necessary, the dektop should remember the users' settings in regard to this the same way the file browser remembers which view settings has established the user for each folder.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Resize some dialog window.
2. Do what you wanted t do and close it.
3. Reopen it, the size you wanted has been ignored.

Expected Results:
Dialogs open with the same size we closed them las time.

Can confirm. Also fullscreen state for these windows isn't remembered. Plus i noticed that for example - dimensions and fullscreen state for 'Task Manager' settings module window are remembered (but not the position of the window), and dimensions, fullscreen state and position for 'Power Saving' settings module window aren't remembered

I've just tried but am unable to replicate this issue.

Can you please test and confirm if this issue is still occurring or if this bug report can be marked as resolved. I've set the bug status to "needsinfo" pending your response, please change back to "reported" or "resolved" when you respond, thanks.

This bug is still reproducible.

KDE Frameworks Version: 5.77.0
Qt Version: 5.15.1

Which bug? As originally written, it is too general to be actionable. Because some dialogs remember their size, but others do not. We need to know which ones do not.

I can reproduce with the dialog used to change the icon of a folder and "Ohter application" dialog under "Open with" submenu from context menu of Dophin.

Operating System: KDE neon Unstable Edition
KDE Plasma Version: 5.21.80
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.81.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2
Graphics Platform: Wayland

Sadly we will need individual bug reports for those, I think. Unless anyone can come up with clever code to remember size and position for each dialog automatically. Which would be nice, but I'm not sure it's possible.
