Description Evert Vorster 2016-04-21 02:40:53 UTC
The only option that is selectable is "Disabled"

I had a look around, and this seems related to bug 325862. However, I am using phonon- gstreamer as a backend, so replay gain and the analyzer is supposed to work.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Click on "Settings", then click on "Replay Gain mode"

Actual Results:
The bottom two options are greyed out

Expected Results:
All options to be available. At the very least, if this is a common error some sort of indication of what is wrong so that one can fix it.

If there is a simple fix for this, I have not found it.

I can't reproduce this here, using a KDE4 installation and Amarok from git master. What exact system are you running? Amarok has a Diagnostics tool in the Help menu, that would help to get started, also which exact KDE release or Plasma version you are using would also be helpful.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
It turns out that this is not a bug with Amarok at all, rather it is with my setup.
I'll document it here just so that anybody in the same situation would be able to solve it.

I migrated to QT5 last year, but of course a lot of older software still requires QT4.
So, I had both phonon-qt4-vlc and phonon-qt4-gstreamer installed. Since my desktop is QT5, I was unable to see/modify the QT4 backend in use. (Which Amaork picked up as VLC)
So, I just un-installed phonon-qt4-vlc.

Amarok no picks up both PulseAudio (Which has always been installed), and the Gstreamer backend. (I still don't know which one is being used QT4/5, but I don't really care.. it works beautifully)

tl;dr - uninstall phonon-qt4-vlc
