Created attachment 98441 [details] Screenshot of smiley after reboot. Hello. I use openSUSE Tumbleweed. Since some of the latter snapshots theres an issue with the comic-widget. Plasma 5.6.2 Frameworks: 5.21.0 Qt: 5.5.1 Kernel 4.5.0.3-default 64 Bit I chose this component for plasma4 to report the issue, since i could not find it for plasma5. The issue is in: plasma5-addons 5.6.2-89.1 I added the widget to desktop. I set it up to show a comic i like. After rebooting into plasma5 the widget shows a yellow big blurry smiley instead of the selected comic. Please find a screenshot attached. Unlocking widgets and touching the resize control of the widget brings the proper content back for this session. After reboot again theres the big yellow smiley. Wish this could refresh itselves without having to unlock widgets and touching the control everytime. Many thanks in advance for your help. Greetings, revealed.

Same here on Gentoo with Plasma 5.6.3. After resizing the applet a bit, the comic appears.
Same here on openSUSE Leap 42.1 Plasma 5.7.3
I have the same on Ubuntu and Arch - I suspect plasma shows the "icon" version of the applet (to support putting it into the panel for example) instead of the expanded applet.
For me a small change in the ui/main.qml file fixes the issue, not sure how many other things it breaks ;) https://phabricator.kde.org/D2595
