Description Samuel 2016-04-18 00:49:30 UTC
The URL is on the Kubuntu Forums where there is discussion and examples of this problem. With an hdmi connection to the External Monitor, and when the System Settings has External monitor on the Right, cursor movements between left and right across the displays works correctly. However, if System Settings is used to shift the external monitor to the Left of the primary display, and the system rebooted, after the change the left monitor image shifts horizontally with cursor movement. Also, System Settings shows no display information under these conditions.

When dealing with these problems, I can recover by deleting ~/.local/share/kscreen.

My hardware is an ASUS R501VM-S3150, with a NVIDIA GT630M. The operating system is Kubuntu 16.04 and the NVIDIA driver is the nvidia-364.15

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Boot the system and open the NVIDIA X Server Settings and select NVIDIA. Shut Down and connect an external monitot via hdmi and reboot. Open System Settings > Display and Monitor and locate the external monitor on the left of the primary display.
2. Shut Down and Re-Boot
3. Use the cursor to move between the left and right screens and note the shifting image on the Left External display

Actual Results:
Image on the Left external display moves with cursor movement. LibreOffice Presentation does not work correctly, ie the control panel for Slide Shows is not presented. Also, Display Settings does not show any monitor.

Expected Results:
I expect to be able to move the cursor between screens without the background changing.
I also expect a Slide Show from LibreOffice to work correctly with a control screen visible.
I also expect the System Settings to show the displays.
I also expect glxgears to show manny more than 60fps.

External Left Display causes Panel Settings>Visibility to be ineffective

Kubuntu 16.04 with KDE Plasma 5.6.3. With External Screen on Left, a panel with applications on my primary display cannot be made so that Windows can cover. Panel > More Settings > Visibility Options are ineffective. I have been through all Visibility Options and nothing happens.

If I put the panel with applications on the left side of the External Display all the Visibility Options work as they should. It only fails when the panel with applications are on the left side of the primary display and the External Display is on the left.

If I make the External Screen on the Right, Visibility Options all work as they should.

The above behaviour occurs for both the Intel and Nvidia driver options.

I plan to add separate examples of Nvidia driver with an External Display on the Left of the Primary Display.

Left External Display has part of the Primary Display Image

When using Nvidia driver and the External Display on the Left of the Primary Display, cursor movement from the External Display to the Primary display causes the primary display to be increasingly in the External Display.

KSnapshot did not show this behaviour as it gave an image without any horizontal displacement. I could only show this problem with a picture using my camera. I reduced the resolution to a size that shows the behaviour.

When the External Display is on the right of the primary display there is no displacement with cursor movement, ie it works as it should.

LibreOffice Impress using F5 for a Presention has no Control Screen

The image shows LibreOffice Impress on the Primary Display and the presentation on the External Display which, under presentation conditions, would drive an Image Projector. I am using the NVidia driver with the hdmi connection s for all other examples.

In the image, the previously displaced image on the External Display is evident. More importantly, the LO Impress is in the edit mode and not showing the Presentation control window which shows the current image, the next image, time displays and advancement arrows.

I tend to think that this is a KDE problem as LO Impress works perfectly when I use my Intel Card driver.
