Kickoff doesn't show all categories by default, only 9 are visible, at least 2 are always out of sight. Using kickoff would be a lot easier if it would be high enough (on displays big enough or maybe optionally) to show all categories at one glance without scolling. Apart from not being able to see all categories at one glance the menu is kind of jumping (which obviously is intended behaviour but really confuses me every time): when I open the menu, move the mouse to the "Applications" tab and from there into the field with the categories the content instantly jumps up (without that I touch the mouse wheel), highly irritating. I try to avoid that by moving the mouse outside of the menu around the menu to get to the top of the menu. Therefore I beg you to let the menu adjust its height to the number of active categories (optionally or dependend from screen height) to show all categories at one glance and to stop that highly confusing "jumping". It does not annoy as much inside a category because the list of applications is either short (no scrolling) or long enough, so it is a smoother experience, but this "flickering" in the category area itself is hard to stand. As there are always at least two kinds of users ( in this case presumably: must see everything at one glance + large elements vs. hide as much as possible + small elements) I'd love to have a configuration option. Reproducible: Always Expected Results: All categories in the applications tab should be visible by default (menu should be high enough if screen height allows it)
That really depends on the number of categories and amount of software installed as well as the font size. For me all categories just fit nicely, even though I have an additional "Chrome apps" entry.
We can't say how many app entries are going to exist, it's dynamic - resizing the entire menu to the height of all of them doesn't make much sense, especially as a user could have hundreds. Sorry.
