Description Sam Keeper 2016-04-14 17:33:28 UTC
See attached URL

The Shape Brush (formerly Experiment Brush), when used on a filter mask layer, creates strange pixelated artifacts. Erasing or painting in black causes the black area to spread outward in large jagged blocks of pixels; painting in white causes a strange halo of black pixels to appear around the mask area.

The brush works fine on normal layers.

I haven't tried to fiddle with the settings to see if the brush engine as a whole is malfunctioning on the filter mask layer or if there's some component in particular that's messing things up, but that would probably be worth doing. My brush was set to have Winding Fill and Hard Edge on.

System is Windows 8.1 with an Intel GPU, bug appears regardless of whether I am using the mouse or my UC-logic tablet.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a filter mask on an existing layer
2. Paint on that layer using the Shape Brush
3. Observe pixelation
4. Verify that brush operates normally on standard paint layers

Yes... This is sort of expected: the shape brush cannot work on masks. There is already another bug reported for this: 318882
