Description thanosshadow5 2016-04-13 15:03:29 UTC
Normally, there shouldn't be any task for yakuake shown in the task manager when pressing the hotkey since it is a "background application". But sometimes, opening yakuake with the hotkey creates a task, as opened windows do, in the task manager (on the panel, in default).
Clicking on the task closes (retracts) yakuake.
The frequency of the incident is completely random.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Installed Yakuake from official repositories
2.Opened the application, set global alternative hotkey this one: `
3.Kept using the application

Actual Results:
After a few times of trying, opening yakuake will create a task in the task manager. It closes when retracting yakuake or when clicking on the task

Expected Results:
Yakuake shouldn't create a task in the task manager

Please see into this issue, as minor as it may seem, it still matters to us :)
I can upload screenshots too.

If you mean with "task manager" the "task bar", I am experiencing the same issue on Arch Linux with Yakuake 3.0.2.
Comment 2 Lastique 2016-10-29 14:22:04 UTC
Same here in Kubuntu 16.10.
Comment 3 Benedikt Geißler 2016-11-05 14:55:24 UTC
Probably a duplicate of bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=343061, I also experience this issue on openSUSE Tumbleweed with Yakuake 3.0.2, Plasma 5.8.2, Frameworks 5.27.0 and Qt 5.7.0.
Comment 4 Alexander Mentyu 2017-08-16 15:44:25 UTC
Confirming this bug in Yakuake 3.0.4+

Distribution: "Netrunner Rolling"

Same here, up to date Arch Linux

KDE 5.41
Yakuake 3.0.4
Comment 6 Jakub Młokosiewicz 2019-01-17 19:25:34 UTC
I also experience this bug.

Manjaro Linux
yakuake 3.0.5
KDE 5.14.5
Qt 5.12.0

Here's a workaround if someone is interested: https://forum.manjaro.org/t/intermittent-yakuake-taskbar-icon/19035
Comment 7 Luis Diaz 2019-04-25 12:51:36 UTC
Can confirm. I've noticed that its very random, if I press my toggle key a lot of times it will be in the taskbar.

Yakuake: 3.0.5
Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20190423
KDE Plasma Version: 5.15.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.57.0
Qt Version: 5.12.2
Comment 8 Frederic St-Pierre 2019-05-23 03:26:45 UTC
I have noticed that the Yakuake task disappears from the taskbar.

Adding applyWindowProperties();

in mainwindow.cpp, right before

emit windowOpened();

seems to solve the issue.

FWIW: Still happens for me on Kubuntu 19.10, Yakuake 3.0.5+, Qt 5.12.4.

Also: Duplicate of bug 360037?
