Whenever I try to open a new document (after the first initial one), the window for the new document is too large for my screen without being able to resize it. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Krita after first initial use 2. Click file+new 3. Cry Actual Results: The bottom half of the window is off the screen. Expected Results: Let me click open new document or something Is it possible to make the window able to resize?
We fixed that in the 3.0 alpha.
I'm not sure if it's worth making another report, but I also ran into this issue with the latest 3.0 alpha build (running on windows 8). When I open Krita everything is fine, but if I open a document or create a new one the screen seems to extend past the bottom. This can be worked around by pressing 'restore down' and the 'maximize', which seems to reset the window.
That's probably because the toolbox on the left is one icon wide; drag it wider and resize the window.
I gave that a shot, but it didn't seem to fix the issue. I've actually had a bit of a play around and the problem definitely seems to be linked to the toolbox, because if I get rid of it completely the problem no longer occurs. If I bring back the toolbox the screen stretches down (which can still be reset like I described before). Although If I do increase the width of both the toolbox AND the toolbar on the right then the amount that the window is stretched downwards is mitigated but not completely nullified. From my testing it seems to be that the thickness of the side toolbars are directly proportionate to how far the screen is 'stretched' downwards. Well, for the most part I've managed to work around it so it's not a big issue. I'm aware it has a lot to do with the new Qt5 framework that isn't easily fixed.
Oh and it's probably worth mentioning that my screen is 1920x1080 but a fairly small 13inch size, so scaling issues may play a part in these problems
I would like to point out that this problem has been happening to me as well since 2.9.11
