Screen shot of rkward windows after crash

I recently installed rkward 0.6.5 on my Windows 7 computer. First I did a full installation not realizing a new copy of R would be installed. No matter, the first and all tries to start rkward resulted in an error report. The rkward gui opened but I couldn't do anything like open an existing workspace or load a data file. I then did a component installation using my existing newer R 3.2.4 and installed the latest KDE in the process. Same problem. I then tried sending a bug report from inside rkward and that failed too (I didn't have time to pursue the bug report problem...) I've attached a screen shot of the whole thing.

Hi!

Thanks for taking the time to report this. I can confirm the "sending bug report does not work" issue, but other than that, RKWard 0.6.5 works just fine for me on Windows 7. Some questions:

1) I see in the mail archive, that you had some (different) trouble with getting RKWard 0.6.3 to work, before. Did you resolve that? Did you run any version of RKWard run on this system, successfully?

2) Possibly this is a problem of bits from several installations interfering with each other. Please try starting RKWard from the rkward.exe _inside KDE\bin_ to make sure this is not a problem of a mis-directed .lnk.

3) Do you see _any_ other symptoms? At least a message "the R backend has shut down unexpectedly," or something?

4) Could you please click on the "Developer Information" tab in the crash dialog, and copy-and-paste the information given there into a comment to this ticket?

Thanks!
Thomas

Thomas - thanks for the reply. Some answers: no, rkward has never worked
on this machine. I've not seen any other symptoms that I know. I'll
follow the advice here and get back with you.

Hi!

Sorry for the long delay, but this is a reminder that we're still waiting for your response, and will not be able to resolve this issue without it. If there is no response, I will close this ticket in a few weeks.

Meanwhile, you may be interested in trying the not-yet-released version of RKWard at https://files.kde.org/rkward/testing/bundles/Windows/rkward-x64-latest-mingw-w64.exe . While this still needs more testing, it definitely features a much less error-prone setup procedure.
