After the upgrade, I noticed that the calendar file, "~/.kde4/share/apps/korganizer/std.ics", wasn't being updated after making changes to my ToDo list even though the changes persisted in KOrganizer between launches. They were obviously cached by Akonadi. So, I stopped Akonadi, removed "~./local/share/akonadi", and restarted Akonadi to try forcing a re-sync. Akonadi failed to reload the calendar file complaining with: Invalid URL: QUrl("/home/user/.kde4/share/apps/korganizer/std.ics") "Could not load file '/home/user/.kde4/share/apps/korganizer/std.ics'." The file is there, has not been modified, and was working fine with KOrganizer v4.14. But, it does not get loaded by KOrganizer5 causing no calendars available even though the Personal calendar is shown in Settings and has the correct location. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Upgrade from KOrganizer 4 to KOrganizer 5 (15) 2. Stop the Akonadi server, remove the Akonadi database, and restart the server 3. Launch KOrganizer; your calendar is unavailable. Actual Results: ToDo list is gone. Calendar is unavailable. Expected Results: Pre-upgrade personal data migrated and syncing preserved. KDE Plasma Version: 5.5.5 Qt Version: 5.5.1 Kernel Version: 4.1.15 OS Type: 64-bit
Still true with git version Message pick from .xsession-error Invalid URL: QUrl("/home/bruno/oc/agendas/bf_2004-2005.ics") "Could not load file '/home/bruno/oc/agendas/bf_2004-2005.ics'." Can be worse, if you change the name of the calendar (right click properties), the file is rewritten with only the first event (data loss)
Thank you for reporting this bug in KDE software. As it has been a while since this issue was reported, can we please ask you to see if you can reproduce the issue with a recent software version? If you can reproduce the issue, please change the status to "REPORTED" when replying. Thank you!
Can't tell you anymore, this method of work has been replaced by other (nextcloud) way.
Well, I am not upgrading from KOrganizer4 to KOrganizer5; I am using version 5.14.2. However, I took steps 2 & 3 of How to Reproduce. After removing the Akonadi database, I did need to re-open my std.ics calendar file. It loaded successfully, and, at a cursory glance, all my data appears to be intact. I'd say the issue is resolved, but I'll let you change the status if you agree.

I'm not the reporter, and don't use anymore this technics, so I can't tell you.
Marking as fixed, we now correctly use `QUrl::fromLocalFile()` to make sure we handle local paths properly. Has been solved for quite a while.
