Description noxernia 2016-04-01 07:38:22 UTC
I have two devices I can use Krita on, and tested this on both of them. When I use the E key, or the eraser button to switch between the brush and eraser modes, krita will lag with certain brush engines. (pixel, color smudge, and sketch brush) The lag will last 3-5 seconds.

This issue wasn't present in the 2.9 versions of krita I've been using, and wasn't present in windows 7.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Krita
2. Have windows 10 [and possibly huion?]
3. Press E with pixel, color smudge, and sketch brush engines to switch to eraser or back to brush.

Actual Results:
Brush lag for 3 seconds or so.

Expected Results:
No lag when switching between.

Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit (10.0, build 10586)

Using a Huion 610pro with the latest drivers.

The issue isn't present in any of the 2.9 releases, but is in all current 3.0 alpha releases, and also doesn't occur on my windows 7 machine, only on 10.

I wonder if this is related to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=346860

It may be! The issues are very similar, but my issue isn't present in 2.9 for me personally-- for at least the last several uploads.

It's also any brush size, and not just large ones. Brush size doesn't seem to effect the lag at all. We also seem to be running different operating systems.

I've tested today's version of krita [2.99.89.zip], and the issue is sadly still present.

Let me know if there's anything I can do/more information to give to help figure out the issue.

I can confirm this issue. Also on windows 10 but a Wacom tablet. Even working with tiny canvases (like for pixel art) it is slow.

With Vc 1.2 _or_ the mingw builds this seems fixed.
